Practical Ontology Systems for Enterprise Application
نویسندگان
چکیده
One of the main challenges in building enterprise applications has been to balance between built-in functionality and domain/scenario-specific customization. The lack of formal ways to extract, distill and standardize the embedded domain knowledge has been a barrier to effective and efficient customization. Ontology may provide, as many would hope, the much needed methodology and standard to achieve the objective of building flexible enterprise solutions. This article examines the uses, issues and challenges of using ontology in enterprise applications. We believe that we are seriously lacking in modeling methodology, domain user tools, and lifecycle management methodology for the creation and maintenance of ontology on a large deployable scale. We present the issues based on an ongoing project to build a product ontology for a public procurement system. Through real life scenarios, we are hoping to convey important research directions to better enable

Automatic Workflow Generation and Modification by Enterprise Ontologies and Documents
This article presents a novel method and development paradigm that proposes a general template for an enterprise information structure and allows for the automatic generation and modification of enterprise workflows. This dynamically integrated workflow development approach utilises a conceptual ontology of domain processes and tasks, enterprise charts, and enterprise entities. It also suggests...

متن کاملAn Ontology-Based Dynamic Enterprise Model: A Proposal with Application for Planning Sustained Compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
In this paper we propose an ontology-based dynamic enterprise model with application for enterprise planning. We use the resource-event-agent (REA) framework as an enterprise domain ontology from which we develop a systems dynamics model of enterprise processes. Such a model may have broad application for enterprise planning, but we specifically describe how the model can be used to plan ongoin...
متن کاملAn Executive Approach Based On the Production of Fuzzy Ontology Using the Semantic Web Rule Language Method (SWRL)
Today, the need to deal with ambiguous information in semantic web languages is increasing. Ontology is an important part of the W3C standards for the semantic web, used to define a conceptual standard vocabulary for the exchange of data between systems, the provision of reusable databases, and the facilitation of collaboration across multiple systems. However, classical ontology is not enough ...
متن کاملApplication of Three Parameter Interval Grey Numbers in Enterprise Resource Planning Selection
This paper applies a new multi attribute decision-making (MADM) model to help companies for enterprise resource planning (ERP) selection problem based on Balanced Score Card method. This paper uses three-parameter interval grey numbers which is derived from Grey theory (was proposed by J. Deng). This numbers is used instead of linguistic variables. Beside, a new weighting method that outcomes f...
